When a member of the cryptocurrency community on Twitter and the NFT Deadfellas community shared about his financial burden of cancer treatment, the crypto community showed kindness and generosity by donating $73,000.
Yopi, also known as Kuiyopi on Twitter, joined the cryptocurrency ecosystem in July 2021. He realized that cryptocurrencies helped him relieve stress about health concerns and even brought fun and entertaining moments during the 6-month therapy.
During this time, he followed information from cryptocurrency players like Cobie, tried learning Spanish, and immersed himself in meme culture. At the same time, he has always shared his messages of empathy, condolences, and views to support other cancer patients in the community — even in a space where most people are anonymous.
However, he received the sad news on Wednesday (April 6). Doctors from the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces' Military Hospital performed an MRI scan of his right hip and found "penetrating lesions to the bone marrow of a third of the upper and middle right femur due to recurrence."
To put it more simply, his cancer has returned.
According to Yopi, doctors said he needed stem cell transplant therapy. Normally, in this case, the main treatment is chemotherapy, but he has previously applied this measure so this time, this is no longer an option.
Moreover, the cost of insurance is estimated to total $50,000, an amount that a self-proclaimed "Ponzi scheme amateur junk coin trader" cannot afford.
Hi guys, unfortunately the cancer came back after days my leg was hurtin, doctor said i only need stem cell transplant since chemo is not an option anymore. Well i dont think i can pay the 50k $ for it nor my shitty insurance would cover it. pic.twitter.com/alH4GRVdys

When he needed help, Yopi reached out to the crypto community on Twitter. Yopi's tweet received tremendous support from many of the industry's most famous people, including the famous NDT artist Cozomo – the true identity of legendary snoop dogg rapper Moon Overlord, and Brett Harrison, ftx's president in the US, as well as Shamdoo and many others.
Analysis of blockchain data showed that Yopi's wallet, called beastmo.eth, received a total of 107 transactions – 94 Ether (ETH), 5 Tether (USDT), 3 USD Coin (USDC), 2 Dai, 1 Wrapped Ether (wETH), 1 Chainlink (LINK) and 1 ApeCoin (APE) – within 14 hours of his tweet.
These altruistic actions helped the balance in his wallet soar to $74,268.69, a figure that surpassed his insurance bill by 48.5% and continues to grow.
In a series of thank you responses, Yopi expressed his love and admiration for the Crypto community, thanking him for the love and warmth of this community. "I can't believe it. I don't know what else to say, I'm in a dream and I'm looking forward to living again, loving people so much."
