The city of Paris – the capital of France, famous for its romance, ancient architecture and cuisine – has been the site of the two-day Paris Blockchain Week for the past week. The week was attended by industry leaders and more than 3000 people interested in cryptocurrencies.

Binance invests 100 million euros in French cryptocurrency ecosystem
Opening with a speech on stage, Binance CEO CZ spoke of "a shift in attitudes" among policymakers and lawmakers over the past 12 months. Earlier, he also confirmed that France has "a special position" in terms of regulation, talent and expertise and has the potential to become the leading cryptocurrency hub in Europe.
CZ also announced Binance's latest decision to invest €100 million in French startups in the Web3 sector in partnership with Station F.
"I think the French government is one of the most radical and open governments, which can help in developing cryptocurrency regulations."
Tether's Chief Technology Officer Reveals Plans for Cryptocurrency City Lugano
In March 2022, the southern Swiss city of Lugano announced it would use Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) as legal currencies in partnership with Tether. Since then, the city has received widespread attention from the cryptocurrency community because of its radical policies.
Ardoino, Tether's Chief Technology Officer, shared some details, stating that "We were able to work with 25 to 30 different startups, the company's assets and private assets valued at between 300 and 400 million Swiss francs."
Ardoino also mentioned Tether's intention to develop educational programs for university students in the region, as well as fund their tuition fees.
Bybit's Lawrance Tan analyzes the mechanics of the Ronin Bridge hack
Lawrance Tan, Bybit's On-Site Business Development Manager, shared his assessment of decentralized finance's security business during a talk on "DeFi Security: The Risks Behind Profitability and Mitigation." He said that the four main vulnerabilities that cause major security attacks in this area are: administrative key breaches, coding errors, rug pulls, and Flash loan attacks.
Referring to the example of the Ronin Bridge hack, Tan called for greater security education in the field after a year rife with attacks and hacks.
Ripple CEO optimistic about future of SEC lawsuit
In a conversation about the regulation of cryptocurrencies, Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, shared his positive views around the recent Securities and Exchange Commission case because they made the sale of unregistered securities by selling XRP. "This case is going very well, and more than I expected when it started 15 months ago."
Blockchain.com's Nicolas Cary looks back at a decade of cryptocurrencies
Nicolas Cary, co-founder of Blockchain.com, assessed the development of the cryptocurrency industry after 10 years of operation when the Blockchain.com was founded in 2011.
During the conversation she talked about the anonymous nature of the field and the vision for democratization that blockchain aims to bring. "We are building materials for the internet that allow people, no matter what the circumstances, to trade, exchange, save and receive rewards with different digital currencies."
