Fearing Twitter employees against the company, Elon Musk ordered the closure of the headquarters and blocked access with employee cards.
On this morning, several newspapers reported that Twitter had revoked all access cards to its offices and the buildings where the social network was based had been dark since the night of 17/11. The company asked employees to keep it a secret and will reopen on Nov. 21.

One employee said he was “fed up” of mailing too many times from company management. This is considered an inevitable consequence of Musk’s dismissal of thousands of employees and large-scale resignations at Twitter in recent days, especially to prevent possible destructive behavior. The reason for confiscating all employee cards is to make a list of who goes and who stays.
Earlier this week, Musk issued an ultimatum to employees that they should commit to “working under hardcore intensity” or quit by 11/17. And of course, hundreds of workers chose the second option.

According to a poll on the work app Blind with 180 participants, 42% chose to “quit my job and I’m free!”, Reuters reported. In another survey, half of respondents said that 50% of Twitter employees would leave.

But employees aren’t the only ones fleeing Twitter, and users of the platform are also looking for alternatives. Two of them, Mastodon and Bluesky, built by former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey , are also receiving attention.
In just 1 month, Twitter has shut down operations twice. On 04/11, the platform took similar action and cut off access to employees’ internal systems, after the new employer implemented a plan to cut 3,500/7000 jobs. But ironically, both Musk and his team “changed their voices,” admitting to wrongful dismissal and persuading many employees to return to work.
In a tweet responding to Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, Elon remained calm because “good people choose to stay here.”
