Apple has blocked the latest version of Coinbase Wallet and asked to comply with a policy of “sharing” 30% of NFT transaction fees.
Exchange Coinbase has disabled NFT transfer functionality on its iOS wallet app, because of a dispute with Apple over its purchasing policy.
You might have noticed you can’t send NFTs on Coinbase Wallet iOS anymore. This is because Apple blocked our last app release until we disabled the feature. 🧵

Accordingly, the tech giant asked Coinbase to “pay a tax” of 30% of gas fees from NFT transactions. Coinbase voiced its grievances:
“If you understand how NFTs and blockchains work, this is obviously impossible. Apple’s proprietary app purchase system doesn’t support crypto payments, so we can’t comply even if we try.
This is like Apple trying to cut fees for each email sent over open Internet protocols. Users who hold NFT wallets on iPhones will now find it more difficult to transfer digital assets.”
This is the latest controversy in a months-long saga between Apple and the NFT community. In October, Apple began limiting NFT trading beyond apps on the App Store.
