Cardano is an academic blockchain research platform that works with the aim of creating a smart economy. The Cardano Foundation, based in Switzerland, is an independent body that supports Cardano users in all legal and commercial matters.
The Cardano Foundation strengthens its support for blockchain education and research into consensus mechanisms.
The Cardano Foundation , a non-profit organization that oversees Cardano's development, has announced a three-year partnership with the University of Zurich (UZH) to promote academic blockchain research and education.
The organization's research topics will include the effectiveness of consensus protocols and analysis of Ouroboros attack vectors.
Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard said the partnership allows the foundation to provide information to UZH BCC to expand the university's knowledge of the Cardano platform and at the same time develop Cardano. Gregaard also explained that: "As blockchain moves from the margins to the mainstream, more academic research is needed to improve understanding and ultimately lead to recognition. This is why we specifically call education the core goal of the foundation for the coming year."
Dr Claudio Tessone, a professor at UZH, said: "Our goal is to link micro-behaviour with the global attributes of Blockchain-based systems. To achieve that, our approach relies heavily on large-scale data analysis supported by rigorous statistical and mathematical models. We want to support the development of this field, which is why working closely with developers and the Board of Directors at the Cardano Foundation especially attracts us. Their input is invaluable to co-creation of research questions and methods."
The importance of blockchain education
Education on blockchain and cryptocurrencies is in increasing demand in industry and government. For example, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) last month proposed that organizations provide regulators and policymakers with educational resources on blockchain. Hypothetically, this would stir up much research into alternative blockchain applications, such as in the medical supply chain.
The recent MENA Climate Week organized by the United Nations and the Government of Dubai also highlights the role of blockchain in education. During the event, the panel noted that informational and educational content is something that this community desperately needs.
According to a report from a company, organizations are joining the Cardano platform. Large trading volume, total volume from transactions on Cardano (ADA) reaching $100,000 increased 51-fold in March 2022.
