Crypto media site crypto Slate said the last transaction from Tornado Cash that Ethermine processed was on August 9.
Ethermine has so far not publicly announced that it has banned Tornado Cash.
Tornado Cash is a protocol on Ethereum that allows users to hide the origin and destination of funds by mixing multiple users’ funds before sending them to their destination addresses.
Several decentralized applications on the Ethereum blockchain have begun banning users from receiving transactions from Tornado Cash after the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctions against the protocol, including Circle’s cryptocurrency trading platforms, dYdX, Aave, Uniswap, and Balancer.
The sanctions on Tornado Cash have been controversial, with opponents saying the protocol protects the privacy of the transaction, while proponents argue that it is a money laundering tool for criminals.
