NFTs from some of the most popular blockchain networks for the art of cryptocurrencies will integrate with Instagram through a pilot announcement here.
Meta-owned social media platform Instagram is planning to integrate NFT for Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and Flow. These networks store the majority of transactions in digital collections, with Ethereum and Bored Apes leading the way in market capitalization.
The pilot plan will introduce a small group of U.S.-based NFT fans. It's unclear whether Instagram will support NFT from all four chains at launch.
Instagram intends to support widely used cryptocurrency wallets like MetaMask. Joining their cryptocurrency wallets, users will be able to prove NFT ownership, showcase them on their profiles, and tag the creators who created them.
Instagram won't charge users to post and share NFTs, as Twitter originally did for its hexagonal NFT profile pictures (hexagonal NFT) hologram project in January.
NFT feature
This decision could mark a rush of new cultural visibility for NFTs. Instagram has more than a billion monthly active users; many of them use the platform to promote and market their art.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the initiative in March but there were no details. The Financial Times previously reported that Meta will follow its NFT pilot on Instagram with facebook group membership options.
