When YouTube was banned in Pakistan, reality TV star Waqar Zaka had "no choice" but to turn to Bitlanders – an artificial intelligence (AI) education social platform – to monetize his Bitcoin content.
Zaka admits that the money he earns from Bitcoin is "nothing" compared to the income from YouTube, but no one believes this is the beginning of the financial freedom he has just found. With the goal of making his native Pakistan rich in cryptocurrencies, he decided to trade his media and entertainment work for research on Bitcoin.
When Pakistan, a country that didn't like the technology, banned Bitcoin in 2017, Zaka filed a petition against it and he won. He has used social media to speak out about these unconstitutional actions by the government, offering help and encouraging Pakistanis to invest in cryptocurrencies. At the time, Zaka was appointed to run a cryptocurrency mining farm using hydropower in Pakistan in a short-term business project.
When Bitcoin was still at $5000, Zaka challenged the government to invest 1% of their budget and mortgage its assets. He has succeeded in getting the government to issue an order not to criminalize mining or investing in cryptocurrencies unless there is evidence of involvement in illegal activities.
Recently, Pakistani President Arif Alvi called for more training in blockchain technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity during a meeting of Blockchain experts.
