Meanwhile, in July, ENS's rival, Unstoppable Domains, hit a $1 billion valuation following a $65 million Series A funding round. Unstoppable Domains said it surpassed two million domain names registered on its service in February. After ENS Domains surpassed 1.8 million earlier this month, Khori Whittaker, chief executive of True Names Limited — the company behind ENS Domains — attributed the increase in registrations to the result of organic growth in the community.
"There's an extremely active and passionate ecosystem of ENS supporters, and they're creating sub-communities independently and organically and spreading the word about what's possible with ENS domains," Whittaker said.
